Preparations are in full swing for the 5th Annual Mauberema Conservation, Agriculture and Cultural Show.

This event is set for 18th – 20th of December 2024, in Dinima Village, Tabare Local Level Government (LLG), Sinesine Yongumugl (SSY) District, Simbu Province.

This time around, instead of going bigger, the Show’s organizing committing, headed by passionate conservationist Mr Moses Kirikumul Kerry said they are going for a smaller show, looking to provide a more intimate experience for the local community and showgoers.

Mr Moses explained the basis of the Mauberema Conservation, Agriculture and Cultural Show.

“This is to showcase the different programs that the Mauberema Ecotourism, Nature Conservation, Education and Research Training Center (MENCERTC) runs.

These involve the work we do in conservation, tourism, culture, preservation of culture, our livelihood programs on the side of agriculture and farming and promotion of all of these aspects.

Learning from the past years’ experience, we would like to make this year’s show smaller but more quality.

We also want to use this event to create awareness and make it educational for the children so they learn about the value of culture and conservation.

There will be a lot of activities however the main highlight will be the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MENCERTC & the Simbu Provincial Government.

This MoU will initiate and ensure continued support and funding for MENCERTC’s various programs and activities; support that we previously have never had from the Provincial Government, so we are really looking to that.

Mr Moses Kerry explained that the show will receive the backing of the Sinesine Yongamugl District Development Authority (SYDDA) under the leadership of MP Kerengua Kua.

“This year, the SYDDA, have approached us to support this Show.

We sent an email invitation to our MP and he will be supporting the show with K30 000.

This money will go towards the preparations of the show and also to accommodate the two invited ministers,” Moses explained.

MENCERTC has also invited their MP Kerengua Kua and Simbu Governor Noah Kool, to open the Show.

Invitations have also been sent to the Ministers of Tourism, Art & Culture Beldan Namah and Environment and Conservation Simon Kilepa.

Showgoers and participating cultural grows from the neighboring Highlands provinces are expected on converge on Dinima Village for this event.

The visitors will also come from other provinces within Papua New Guinea and there will be a handful of international tourists as well.

Moses in his concluding remarks, acknowledged and thanked the NCC, the SSYDDA and partners, for their continued recognition and support towards the Show.

The Mauberema Conservation, Agriculture and Cultural Show is the only event of its kind in the SSY District, initiated in 2019 and officially recognized and certified as a National Cultural Event in 2023.
