A TOTAL of K30million was presented to the University of Goroka Vice Chancellor Dr Teng Waninga by Prime Minister James Marape during the 28th Graduation ceremony towards the building the University’s Administration building.
Dr Waninga says the million Kina worth project at the University is expected to reach completion this year in September and will be launching to coincide with the 16th September 50th independence celebrations at the University this year.
The proposed administration building is a K76million worth project that was approved by the Governor General Sir Bob Dadae in 2022.
Dr Waninga said the project is part of the University’s development plans to effectively improve teaching and learning services at the University since the 1960s.
The building will accommodate office spaces for the services divisions, student welfare and administration, planning, finances, top management and dean’s offices, that would create more learning space for students at the University.
The building will also cater for a 3000-seat capacity hall for students to host meetings and discussions on important affairs of the country.
Prime Minister James Marape when handing over the funding challenged the University and management to ensure that quality and standards is not being compromised at the University following the government’s earlier commitment of K10million in disaster funds received last year.
PM Marape said he is looking forward to the ground breaking ceremony of the Administration building which is scheduled for this September with the country’s 50th independence celebrations
