THE Prosecution office at the Boroko Police Station which has been under renovation since June 2024 has been completed and was opened today (Wednesday, January 29, 2025) by the Commander NCD/Central acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Benjamin Turi and was witnessed by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) representatives and senior officers from the NCD command and the prosecutors.

The renovation of the building was funded by the Australian Federal Police through the PNG-APP program. During the reopening of the building Commander Turi on behalf of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary Management thanked the AFP for their continuous support to RPNGC since their presence in the country.

Commander Turi said apart from the prosecution office the AFP had also done maintenance to the Boroko Metor Cell, Boroko Communication Center and other maintenance at Boroko police station and other stations in the command. He added that apart from the infrastructure assistance the AFP had been beneficial in running in-house training for the police officers in the command. He said they had done a lot for the organization.

Commander Turi also called on the police officers to use the infrastructure to look after them because maintenance is very costly.

Detective Superintendent Operation Conrad Jensen from the PNG-APP program also added that the Australian Government through the PNG-APP program will continue to support RPNGC in the future. He said the building will now serve the people of Papua New Guinea. He said the prosecution division plays an important role in law enforcement in PNG. He said renovation of this building and other things done to the prosecution is a way of appreciating what they are doing in the country.

Officer In Charge of NCD Prosecution Chief Inspector Binuali Boas was happy when he walked into the newly renovated building with a new look. CIP Boas thanked the policing partners the PNG-APP for their support in terms of finance and other things that they assist RPNCGC. He said their assistance had seen the successful renovation of the office which is now ready for use.

The prosecutors since the closure of their office last year had been operating at Mourata Haus at Waigani. It is confirmed that they will be moving back to Boroko next week to their newly renovated office.
