n an Interview with this newsroom, the coordinator for Madang Technical Vocational Education says three VET schools will be close down for this year and be relocated due to issues within the communities they are located at and corruption in the management of these schools.

Madang provincial TVET coordinator, Mr. Kero Bagel said the Bulu Vocational school on Karkar Island, Bau VET in Transgogol, South Ambenob and Ambron Lutheran Vocational in the north coast of Madang will be close down and teachers will be posted to other VET schools.

Mr. Bagel says these schools faced issues such as misusing of funds, rundown infrastructures and properties were stolen by surrounding communities. These happened because of corruption from the management and board members as well as community involvements in decision making of the schools.

All of these has led to not many students enrolled in those schools this year.

He said a validation was held at DWU campus last year with the teachers and the authorities and formalities were already sent to the Provincial Education Board (PEB) for final decisions, however, the PEB has not responded as yet.
