CONSTRUCTION of a major road link in Nipa–Kutubu District is progressing steadily, with works now underway from Parite Junction to Wanga Mountain and extending towards Keremela.

A team from the Nipa–Kutubu District Development Authority (NKDDA), led by chief executive officer Camillus W. Ombelo, inspected the project site early this week and expressed satisfaction with the progress.

The project, undertaken by China Railway, is expected to improve road access across the district and link remote communities that have long faced transport challenges.

Mr Ombelo said visible progress had already been made along sections of the route, with key infrastructure works taking shape.

“This road will play a vital role in improving service delivery and boosting economic activity in the district,” he said.

Communities in the Lower Plateau area have welcomed the development, saying the road will provide easier access to markets, health services and schools.

The improved road network is also expected to create new business opportunities and support broader development in the region.

The project is part of ongoing infrastructure development efforts championed by local MP Dr Billy Joseph.

Work is continuing, with authorities optimistic the road will bring lasting benefits to the people of Nipa–Kutubu.
