SOUTH Pacific Brewery has reaffirmed its commitment to improving workplace health by making a donation of K75,000 cheque to Businesses for Health project.
The cheque presentation was held yesterday at SP Breweries Head Office in Port Moresby marking the renewal of another 3 years partnership between SP Brewery and Businesses For Health.
Speaking during the check presentation SP Brewery Corporate Affairs Manager John Nilkare says the partnership with Businesses for Health spans more than a decade and continues to play a vital role in supporting employee wellbeing across industries.
Nilkare emphasized that a healthy and happy workforce is key to national progress, highlighting the organization’s work in raising awareness on HIV, tuberculosis and other health risks affecting Papua New Guineans.
He says many companies rely on Businesses for Health to provide critical education and guidance to help businesses protect their employees and improve productivity.
Nilkare said SP Brewery’s contribution will support ongoing health programs and outreach but he his also calling on other companies to come on board and support the organization’s work.
Meanwhile, Businesses for Health Project Lead Dr. Ann Clark welcomed the support, saying the funding will help sustain staff and deliver essential health programs in communities and workplaces.
Dr. Clark highlighted ongoing health challenges in Papua New Guinea with the rising HIV infections and high rates of tuberculosis, stressing that improving workforce health is critical to the country’s competitiveness in the region.
She says partnerships with businesses are key to addressing these issues by ensuring workers have access to testing, treatment and education to live healthier and productive lives.
