HUNTERS ENCOURAGED TO KEEP MOVING FORWARD

KEEPING heads-up and moving forward is the centre-stage point of discussion, at this juncture where their season is slowly slumping, since the start of the Queensland Hostplus Cup season in March, earlier this year.
After four losses and a single win on the trot, it is definitely a tough moment for the PNG Hunters players, the coaching staff and management to overcome the losing streaks and bounce back onto the winner’s circle.
The South Pacific Brewery-sponsored side assistant mentor Wesser Tenza is adamant that Hunters will surely work on the grey areas and improve in the coming games. However, the morales, confidence that navigate through the black lash of back-to-back losses is a mental challenge to the young squad and the entire team.
One time PNG Kumuls utility Tenza further added that encouraging the players, motivating them in such trying times to play with confidence to win games, either away or home is the everyday talk in their camp in Port Moresby.
“The camp now is pretty tough, for a squad that made up of mainly young players,” former Hunters rake turned assistant coach Tenza said.
“We know that, these boys have what it takes to be a Hunter, to win teams, but it comes back to us, the whole team and individual preparations.
“Doesn’t matter what the results may look.
“Keep doing what we are lacking and we keep moving, that’s the focus at the camp now.
“Forget about what has gone and keep focusing on to the next and moving forward, taking each game at a time.”
Tenza strongly emphasis on individual preparations, week in and week out before taking games.
“It’s up to the boys to prepare well and come or not.
“We are giving everything to them and it is now us all to prepare to get things done,” Tenza said.
Tenza also mentioned that halves combination in Jamie Mavoko and Joel Gena will go on for a while, before few changes are anticipated.
He said young players are picking up well from veterans like skipper Ila Alu and Mavoko and alter the team every weekend due to consecutive losses may affect the teams consistent, moving into the future.
