The 75-kilometre Tabubil-Telefomin road has reached Tifalmin village, marking a key stage in the K267 million project to connect remote Telefomin District in West Sepik to Papua New Guinea’s road network.
The Tifalmin Road was launched last Friday and was attended by Ok Tedi Mining Limited, the Department of Works and Highways, Telefomin DDA, Olsobip LLG leaders, the Sandaun Provincial Government, and community members.
Speaking at the ribbon cutting, Kayop Investment Ltd Managing Director Maino Lukas said the road reflects the legacy of the late Telefomin MP Solan Mirisim.

Lukas said this road symbolises partnership, unity and the legacy that the late Minister Mirisim left behind.
He added that the Tifalmin opening is the first milestone in a plan set by Mirisim noting that this will bring many projects that the late minister had planned. It is also a symbol that they will work together to bring development.
Kayop MD Lukas acknowledged Ok Tedi Mining Limited and the Government for its support in building the road which the link reaches Tifalmin after 50 years of independence.
