GOVERNOR HAIVETA JUMPS SHIP TO GOVERNMENT
Gulf Governor, Sir Christopher Haiveta, announced his decision to return to Government, claiming that he leaves with a renewed focus on ensuring transparency, accountability, and adherence to proper governance processes for the people of Gulf Province and Papua New Guinea.
This decision comes after the successful resolution of a court case that exposed serious flaws in how development funds were managed and disbursed, issues that prompted his departure from Government Mid-this year.
The Governor in a statement stated that his decision to return to Government is driven by a deep sense of responsibility to address these issues from within and to ensure that similar breaches of the Public Finances (Management) Act do not occur in the future.
He added that as a senior statesman and a stalwart of Pangu Pati, he remains steadfast in his loyalty to the party’s mission of serving the people. The Governor now states that his priority is to work collaboratively with colleague-member to establish clear, robust governance frameworks for the management of development funds.
