The new Alia Aid Post in East Pangia LLG of Ialibu Pangia District in Southern Highlands Province, will have the capacity serve more than five thousand people in 5 council wards, according to a local Nasson Tulia.
Tulia said local community in the area were very happy to see health services back at their door step and thank Southern Highlands Provincial Government and local contractor W7C Bridges and Construction Company for delivering this initiative.
“People of Alia,Morea ,Alimbu-Tengai, Molo 1and 2 wards currently receive treatment at Pangia Health Centre since Alia Aid Post established during colonial era, had deteriorated and closed down for more than two decades.
βPeople wake up early in the morning, walk and reach Pangia around mid-day. Sometimes, patients die along the road before reaching Pangia health centre,” Tulia said.
It was also revealed that road condition to Alia was very bad and calls are being made on Ialibu-Pangia District Development Authority as well the Provincial Government to assist.
Tulia said once the construction of the Aid-post and facilities were completed, they would request the Provincial Health Department to create two or three positions for this particular Aid Post and upgrade it to Level 1.
