HOMEMADE COMPETITION RETURNS

By Ricky ISRAEL
The Lilly Magazine’s prestigious annual Homemade Product Competition is back this year, with K12,000 cash in first prize up for grabs.
Yesterday, the magazine announced the 15 finalists for its third edition, after receiving 150 entries from across Papua New Guinea, where 5 finalists were selected in the three categories of edible, useful, and wearable.
Pacific Island Published Managing Editor Marog Nugent says that while the number of entries has dropped compared to previous years, the quality of the products or entries has improved this year. She notes that this year’s entries are more creative, innovative, and sustainable.
The lucky winner will take home K12,000 in cash, with the runner-up receiving K5,000 and the second runner-up getting K2,500 and the winners will be announced in late March or early April.
Lilly Magazine’s Homemade Product competition highlights the incredible talent of micro-businesses, especially women-led businesses.
It aims to promote and support these local entrepreneurs by showcasing their innovative, homemade products and providing training to help them grow and sustain their businesses
