COMMUNITY POLICING UNIT PRAISED BY MADANG POLICE BOSS

Local residents in the respective wards or communities in the Madang district has taken a bold step in helping Police to address law and order issues in the province.
The Madang Provincial Police Commander, Acting Superintendent Robert Baim told this newsroom that the Community Policing Unit is voluntary initiative by the locals which has his full support.
PPC Baim said the initiative is a pilot project for Madang district but for this year, it will be extended to other districts throughout the province as well.
He praised the initiative adding that it is working really well in Madang district.
PPC Baim said the Police in Madang will be running trainings for the CPU volunteers on Policing so they can assist police in Madang to patrol their own community, the police will step in to apprehend and arrest the offenders.
PPC Baim said since the establishment of the local CPUs in the Madang Urban District, the law-and-order issues in the province has significantly dropped.
In the previous week, the Governor for Madang, Ramsey Pariwa assisted some of the CPUs in the Madang district with cash allowances.
Sources confirmed that one of the local CPUs that received this timely assistance is the Ward 7 CPU of New Town in the Madang District.
Meanwhile, the PPC Baim has thanked Governor Pariwa for his recognition and assistance to the law and justice sector in the province.
