EVICTION OF SETTLEMENTS UNDERWAY IN POPONDETTA

THE Bove and Augasusu settlements in Popondetta were officially evicted on 7th of March 2025 after a 14 days grace period.

Northern Governor, Garry Juffa, commended the residents of the two settlements for their cooperation in complying with the eviction notice.

Police brought in a machine the site bulldozing down trees and remains of houses to officially declare eviction.

Juffa explained that particular potion of land belongs to the Education Division, however the site would now serve as the foundation for a temporary Police Headquarters untill a proper head quarters is built.

He thanked the youth leaders for their participation and the surrounding community including the Chinese community for their contributions towards restoration of law and order in the province.

The eviction process was witnessed by the law enforcement agencies including members of Correctional Service (CIS), Royal Constabulary, local community leaders, Provincial Governor and the Provincial Administrator.
