CENSORSHIP OFFICE HONORS WOMEN

Over 30 female officers of the Censorship Office, had taken pride and honor, as working-class women in the country, to commemorate the National Day of Women which falls on the 24th of March, 2025.
The event was observed by Deputy Chief Censor, Ms. Illikomau Ali, Executive Manager Corporate Services, Mrs. Nancy Kilala, Executive Manager Enforcement & Compliance Mrs. Lovelyn. Douglas and Acting Human Resource Manager Violet Kulem and 2 guests’ speakers, Mrs Pamela Amini and Mrs. Mary Handen.
The National Women’s Day Celebration was held at the Central Government Office (CGO) at Waigani in Port Moresby, National Capital District.
Papua New Guineas Chief Censor, Mr. Jim Abani while speaking during this event, has encouraged male officers of the Censorship Office to show respect for fellow female officers in the office.
“Women gives balance of decision making and that balance will give us strength and motivation to move this country forward,” he said.
The Office of the Censorship (OOC) is one among other Statutory Government Offices in the country hence, which strongly advocates for women empowerment and promotes gender equality and fairness in the office.
Mr. Abani said that OOC was once dominated by men but ever since, he was appointed as the Chief Censor, women were recommended and appointed to take-up various managerial roles in the office.
The Chief Censor has urged both women and men to show respect and maintain that same level of respect walking and working together as we approach 50 years and going beyond.
Mr. Abani said that there must be honor and respect for women and they will support men in nation building.
Guest speakers, Ms. Mary Handen upon sharing her life experience said, “growth happens when we embraced the unknown.” While Mrs Pamela Amini who was referring to a scripture in the bible said, “women have many battles and grounding yourself in the lord will save you.”
