FORMER Prime Minister and Ialibu Pangia MP, Peter O’Neill has called for Prime Minister James Marape to heed the call of the people and to step aside as the leader of the country.

In his address to the media this week, the O’neil stated that this call was not for the opposition to vie for leadership of the country, but after 6 years of the Prime Ministers leadership, the people have already lost faith in the current administration.

He stated that the country is at the sixth year of the Marape government that came with a big promise of delivering a country that is prosperous, a country that is going to be rich and of course wealthy beyond imagination, highlighting that the government that has enjoyed record prices in terms of the global prices for commodities like coffee, gold, copper, oil and gas.

He said despite this, many know that that is not a true reflection of where the country is.

Adding that all social indicators today shows that the country is not performing well, not only in the region but globally.

Emphasizing the declining education standards and health services are almost non-existent.

He believes as a result the country has a huge youth population and record unemployment.
