LUFA DDA FIRST TO SUPPORT LLG ELECTION

LUFA district in Eastern Highlands Province is the first DDA in the province to provide financial boost of K300,000 to run the 2025 LLG Elections..

The presentation was done at the Eastern Highlands Election office in Goroka to the Election Manager Mr Steven Gore Kaupa and later handed over to the respective AROs in the district.

A total of K50, 000 each was given to the three LLGs of the Lufa district which are Yagari, Unavi and Mt Mt Michael.

Lufa MP Simo Kilepa and Minister for Environment and Climate change during the presentation of the cheques said it is important that the LLG Elections is carried out successfully as the third level of government at the community level.

Mr Kilepa said the support is to ensure that the LLG Elections is carried out successfully to deliver the district plans in line with the village, council and LLG levels for effective service delivery.

He said the district has supported in the successful delivery of the Census, the roll update and the assistance for the support for the delivery of the LLG Elections is only fitting.

Mr Kilepa said the district has completed 2 of its LLG chambers already which are Mt Michael and Yagari while Unavi is yet to be completed pending road construction into the area that will ensure councilors operate within the district in their respective LLG chambers.

Election Manager Mr Steven Gore Kaupa acknowledged the MPs support as the first DDA support among the total of 8 districts, pending the financial constraints in delivering a free and fair Elections not only in EHP but throughout the country including the assistance in the completion of the Census and roll update for Lufa district as the first among other districts in the province.

However, Mr Kaupa said the nominations successfully ended last Thursday for the total of 287 council wards and 25 LLGs for Eastern Highlands province.
