NET‑LYAIM REGION TO HOST CULTURAL FESTIVAL ALIGNED WITH PNG’S 51ST INDEPENDENCE

THE people of the Net-Lyaim Region in the Maip-Mulitaka LLG inside the Pogera-Paiela District are gearing up to host and celebrate the Net-Lyaim Cultural Festival that will coincide with the 51st PNG Independence anniversary celebrations.

Chairman of the Net-Lyaim Cultural Festival Mr Miok Michael is currently on the ground doing awareness on law and order issues and promoting peace throughout the Maip-Mulitaka LLG and the Pogera-Paiela District as a whole through the Net-Lyaim Cultural Festival.

Mr Michael mentioned that true manhood and womanhood are defined by our custom teachings and cultural boundaries.

“You will be an obstacle to communities if you know nothing about the community’s hausman talks and cultural demarcations,” he said.

Mr. Michael is concerned that our customary traditions and cultures are starting to fade away because of the increasing Western influence.

He admitted the fact that most law and order issues the country is facing today is due to moral decay in the society where most of the young people have no respect for the elderly and community members unlike before.

Mr Michael is currently doing awareness throughout this rural constituency, ensuring the people showcase their interest in the upcoming festival and spread the word of peace to all community members in the respective wards across the Maip-Mulitaka LLG accordingly.

Culture and Tourism Minister Belden Namah and National Cultural Commission Chief Executive Officer Mr Steven Enomba Kilanda will officially open this significant cultural event on the eve of Independence Day (September 16).
