DPLGA OFFICERS PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO NORTHERN PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT

Two officers from the Department of Provincial and Local Government Affairs (DPLGA) visited Popondetta last week to assist staff from the Northern Provincial Administration in preparing their Annual Provincial Performance Report, as required under Section 119 of the Organic Law.
The visit focused on working closely with sector advisors from all divisions within the provincial administration to guide them through the Section 119 reporting template.
Their efforts led to the official presentation of compiled sector reports, which occurred Thursday (May 16th, 2025) at Birdwing Lodge in Popondetta. The reports required are from 2019 to 2022, this transparency and performance monitoring at the provincial level.
During the presentation, Oro Provincial Administrator Trevor Magei addressed the public servants highlighting the importance of adapting to policy changes taking place at the national level. He described the current administrative system as “colonial in nature” and urged public servants to shift towards modern, technology-driven management and reporting practices.
He urged the Public servants to take ownership and adapt to change in order to deliver better services and do proper reports for the work been done.
Also speaking at the event, DPLGA Senior Coordinator Taiyen Mackey noted that the existing reporting templates are outdated and that significant changes have been made in recent years.
He said, the current reporting mechanisms have evolved. Itβs important for provincial staff to realign with these updates and ensure their reports reflect accurate, current data.
