DJAG LAUNCHED HUMAN RIGHTS PLAN; EU TO SUPPORT WITH K4M

THE Department of Justice & Attorney General launched one of its important plans, that put Human Rights at forefront, moving forward.
Led by secretary of the Department, Dr Eric Kwa, the 2024-2029 was unveil yesterday afternoon at the Hilton Hotel, paving way for the Department to also push for Human Rights Secretariat to be set up for inclusiveness.
Dr Kwa said they will push for Cabinet to approve the Human Rights Secretariat later on this year.
Dr Kwa acknowledged the European Union and other donor partners for the technical supports and funding the plans.
Meantime, a total of 1m Euros were injected by European Union into the Department of Justice & Attorney General to co-fund the Department’s vision in having a separate Human Rights Constitutional Office in the near future, as well as the preparations of the legal frame and ground works.
This was revealed by Deputy Head of Delegation of the European Union, Stephanie Vadde, yesterday (Thursday, 21st of August), during the launching of the Human Rights Strategic Plan 2024-2029 by the Department of Justice & Attorney General.
The Deputy Head of Delegation of the European Union, Stephanie Vadde confirmed that the total funding was equivalent to K4m, when converted to local currency.
Ms Vadde further stated that EU highly values and respect Humans, and thus, when the Department of Justice & Attorney General wrote to their office, seeking funds, EU did not hesitate to release the funds, to support a worthy program, which involves Humans and Lives.
