NCD POLICE RECEIVE VEHICLE TO BOOST SECURITY OPERATIONS

POLICE operations have been boosted with a support of six new vehicles from the from the National Capital District Commission.
Today, the NCDC Board presented NCDC Police with six new police vehicles to help boost their operational efforts in keeping the city safe in the lead up to the country’s major celebration.
NCDC Governor Powes Parkop in presenting the vehicles to Police in the nations capital emphasised on the need to keep the city safe especially at this peak time for nation.
Governor Parkop said the vehicles NCDC board has allocated K16 million budgets for security in the city.
The six new vehicles costs K800,000 out of the K16 million, whilst the rest of the money is directed to the Port Moresby City Wardens and the Pom city watch.
Governor Parkop said Police will focus on major crimes in the city while the city wardens and pom city watch are to assist with minor issues such as the stret vendors.
The NCDC Governor also said that CCTV cameras will also be installed in main hotspot areas in the city.
This timely support is to provide safety and security for the residents of Port Moresby as they prepare to celebrate the nation’s 50th golden jubilee anniversary.
Present to witness the presentation was MTK Chairman and NCDC deputy Governor, Russell Wavik, North East MP, John Kaupa, City Manager, Ravu Frank, ACP NCD/Central, Benjamin Turi and NCD Met Superintendent, Warrick Simatab.
