LOCAL Cocoa Farmers in the Aitape Lumi district will receive funding support to boost their cocoa production in the district.
Aitape Lumi MP Hon, Anderson Mise assured his people that his aim was to make Aitape town the Economical Hub for Aitape-Lumi district as well as West Sepik as a whole and its neighbors.
Through the Aitape-Lumi District Development Authority, his district will ensure more feeders roads are built within the District to ensure easy access for farmers in rural areas to transport their beans to the Aitape market.
He added that Agriculture is the main source of income for people living in rural areas thus more funding will be given to the Agricultural sector in the district.
Mise also encouraged all the unemployed people living in town areas and the rural areas to go back home and plant cocoa to support the cocoa industry in the Aitape Lumi.
He said he will also assist with funding two new vehicles for the DAL Aitape and DAL Lumi officers to encourage cocoa awareness within the electorate as well as the neighbouring electorates of Nuku and Vanimo Green..
Mise made the statement whilst addressing the farmers recently at Yawasoro, in Wewak, East Sepik Province.
