GOROKA BINTAGOR LAHANIS RECEIVES 25-SEATER BUS FROM LOCAL PROVINCIAL GOV’T

IN a major boost for the Eastern Highlands Provincial rugby league team the Goroka Bintangor Lahanis, the provincial government presented a brand new 25-seater bus to the Goroka Bintangor Lahanis management at the Governor’s Office in Goroka.

The bus was officially handed over to the Goroka Bintangor team Manageress Kylie Martins yesterday.

Speaking during the presentation, Eastern Highlands Governor Sia said he expected strong performances and good results from the Lahanis this season, stressing that the club does not only represent Goroka but the entire Eastern Highlands Province.

Governor Sia also highlighted the growth of the Lahanis franchise, especially with the inclusion of the women’s Lahanis side and the Under-19 division. He said the new fleet would greatly assist the different divisions with transportation during competitions and official games.

He further acknowledged the continued support towards the club’s development, noting that the new bus now gives the Lahanis two 25-seater coaster buses.

Governor Sia said the first bus was donated by the Goroka District Development Authority five years ago, while the latest addition is from his office as the Governor.

Governor Simon Sia who is also the Franchise Owner said despite many critics’ sports is part of the solution to community issues, provides discipline among youths and gives purpose to youths and contributes to community development.

He said the support also continues to strengthen rugby league development across Eastern Highlands Province.

Goroka Bintangor Lahanis Team Manageress Kylie Martins thanked the Governor for his support towards the team and assured the Governor that the vehicle would be well-managed.

“We assure the Governor that we will put the bus to good use and manage it well for the benefit of all our teams and players.”
