POM GEN HOST FREE MEDICAL CHECK FOR MEDIA OFFICERS

PORT Moresby General Hospital hosted its first-ever Media Medical Check yesterday at the 3mile General hospital bringing together journalists and media personnel from across Port Moresby for free health screening services.

The initiative, held in commemoration of World Press Freedom Day, aims to recognize the critical role of the media in amplifying health awareness and informing the public, helping citizens make informed decisions for healthier lives.

Speaking at the opening Dr Sobi Sobi acknowledged media houses from Radio, PRint and Television, thanking journalists for their continued partnership in public health communication.

He said the media plays a vital role as agents of information in shaping public understanding of health issues in the country.

The medical check is designed to encourage journalists to take give time for their own health wellbeing despite busy schedules.

The hospital says the event marks the beginning of stronger collaboration between health workers and the media, with hopes it will continue in future years to promote both preventive health and public awareness.
