WORKS DEPT SIGNS K1.1 BILLION CONTRACTS FOR WEST SEPIK

The Department of Works and Highways today signed two major road construction contracts for West East Sepik Province with China Railway Engineering Group and China Harbour Engineering at Government House in Port Moresby.
The signings were officiated by the Governor-General of Papua New Guinea Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae.
China Railway Engineering Group was awarded a K374 million contract to upgrade and seal an 80kilometre section of the Sepik Highway from Sikau Bridge to Lumi under the Connect PNG Program.
The project will run for 60 months, equivalent to a five-year contract.
At the same time, China Harbour Engineering was awarded a K724 million contract for the Vanimo Green Road to design and upgrade a 160 kilometre section from Vanimo to Green River Station. The contract term is 72 months.
Both contracts are fully funded by the Government under the Connect PNG Program.
Combined, the two contracts are valued at over K1.1 billion and form part of the Government’s Connect PNG Program to improve national road infrastructure.
