30 PNG STEM STUDENTS SET TO DEPART FOR US ON SCHOLARSHIP

THIRTY Papua New Guinean students are set to depart for the United States next Friday, 14th August, to study Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, under the 2026 PNG STEM Scholarship Program.

The students are recipients of the 2026 PNG STEM Scholarship Program, principally sponsored by Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited.

Speaking at a pre-departure orientation hosted today in Port Moresby by the US Embassy’s Education program, US Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Andrew Cavington congratulated the scholars.

He said the scholarships are an investment in the long-term relationship between Papua New Guinea and the United States.

Acting Public Affairs Officer Rachel Brune also welcomed the students, saying the Embassy is excited to share American education and culture with PNG.

Covington urged the students to excel in their studies and contribute back to the country.

The program reflects the strong partnership between the U.S. Embassy, the PNG Department of Education, DHERST, and KPHL in advancing educational opportunity and STEM capacity-building in Papua New Guinea.
