THE Department of Provincial and Local Level Government Affairs (DPLGA) will soon deploy Starlink devices across the country to strengthen data collection.

A formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between DPLGA and Telikom Limited, the authorised national reseller of Starlink, in Port Moresby.

Telikom Chief Executive Officer Amos Tepi said the partnership is a stepping stone for the department into the new technology era.

Tepi said the initiative will deliver connectivity to all 22 provinces, districts, and local level governments.

DPLGA Secretary Philip Leo said the department has been developing online platforms internally.

Leo said the partnership will allow more than 6,000 ward recorders in remote parts of the country to upload and store data directly on the platform.

Secretary Leo added that all data collected will be used by the National Government for proper planning and budget allocation.

This partnership reaffirms the Marape-Rosso Government’s commitment to driving change through digital transformation.
More importantly, it will significantly improve data collection and ensure proper data storage and recovery.
