K92 MINING BACK GOROKA LAHANIS WITH K200,000 SPONSORSHIP

K92 Mining Limited has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting local sports and youth development in Eastern Highlands Province with a K200,000 sponsorship to the Bintangor Goroka Lahanis Rugby Football League Club.
The cheque presentation was held at the K92 Mining site on Wednesday, 12 August 2026, and was received by Eastern Highlands Provincial Governor, Hon. Simon Sia, who is the main franchise sponsor of the Bintangor Goroka Lahanis and has supported the club for the past 20 years.
On behalf of K92 Mining CEO John Lewins, the Board of Directors, and the management, Marcus Bai, Superintendent – Youth and Sports Development, presented the cheque to Governor Sia. The sponsorship will support the club’s players and youth development activities as the Lahanis continue to represent Eastern Highlands Province in the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League competition.
Governor Sia acknowledged K92 Mining for its continued support of the Goroka Lahanis and the development of young people in the province. He highlighted the importance of partnerships between the private sector and local sports organizations in providing opportunities for young athletes and supporting the growth of rugby league in Eastern Highlands Province.
He also expressed appreciation to K92 Mining for continuing to recognize the Lahanis as an important platform for local talent and for contributing to the club’s ongoing development.
Speaking at the presentation, Mr Bai said K92 Mining was proud to support the Goroka Lahanis, which he described as a source of pride for the province.
“The Lahanis are the pride of Eastern Highlands Province, and K92 Mining is proud to support the club and our local youths, both male and female. We hope this support will help develop their skills and create opportunities for them to progress to higher levels of competition, including teams such as the PNG Hunters and PNG Chiefs,” Mr Bai said.
