TUBUSEREIA Primary School is a proud recipient of a brand new 6 in 1 classroom, thanks to a collaborative partnership by BSP Financial Group, Local Level Government partnership and the Deputy Opposition Leader and member for Hiri -Koiari, Hon Keith Idudu.

Co-funded through BSP Financial Group’s Annual Community Project Initiative alongside key government and local leaders, the eight-week project marks a major milestone in improving education, safety, health, and sanitation for the school’s young  learners.

The redevelopment involved the complete demolition of an aging structure which served generations of students for over 70 years and the construction of a brand-new facility. This included, the construction of a modern 6-in-1 classroom block that provides  a clean, safe, and child-friendly learning environment for approximately 300 students in Grades 1 and 3 (the site formerly served as an Early Learning Centre shelter), a refurbished landing area featuring new staircases for improved student safety and access and a brand-new ablution block equipped with  toilet facilities, contributing to  improved health and sanitation standards on campus.

The eight-week project saw the complete demolition of the school’s historic 70-year-old building—which previously sheltered Early Learning Centre (ELC) students—and the construction of new building.

The successful delivery of the Tubusereia Primary School project is a testament to what can be achieved through unity, a shared vision, and strong public-private partnerships.

The project’s total investment of K340,000 was made possible through the combined contributions of Hiri Local Level Government President, Hon. Haoda Rogea (K180,000); BSP Financial Group, through funding from Corporate Affairs & Community and Waigani Banking Centre (K60,000); Hon. Rea Loi, Councillor for Tubusereia East Ward (K45,000); Hon. Bessie Loinou, Councillor for Tubusereia West Ward (K25,000); and 100 new student desks supplied by Deputy Opposition Leader and Member for Hiri-Koiari, Hon. Keith Iduhu, valued at K30,000.

Speaking at the handover, Hari Rabura, BSP Group General Manager for Corporate Affairs and Community, expressed pride in the milestone project, ”For more than 70 years, the former building faithfully served generations of students. Time took its toll, and through the dedication of the school community, local leaders, parents, teachers, and BSP staff, it has now been replaced by a modern block built for generations to come.”

Hiri LLG President Hon. Haoda Rogea emphasised the importance of community ownership moving forward:

”This project is a celebration of a shared vision, strong partnership, and our collective commitment to our children’s future. The project’s long-term success now depends on all of us. We encourage the school and village to care for this facility so it may serve for the next 70 years and beyond.”

The newly completed facilities provide a clean, safe, and inspiring environment that sets a strong foundation for the academic journey of Tubusereia’s students.

The formal handover and commissioning of the new classroom was done by Deputy Opposition Leader & Member for Hiri-Koiari, Hon. Keith Iduhu, Branch Manager for BSP Waigani Banking Centre, Mr Samuel Okti and Hiri Local Level Government President Hon. Haoda Rogea, and witnessed by local leaders, villagers students and staff of Tubusereia Primary School.
