SIDELINED COMMERCE MINISTER BAKRI DAKI APPOINTED ACTING MINISTER

SIDELINED Commerce and Industry minister Win Bakri Daki has been appointed as the new acting vice-minister assisting Prime Minister.

This was announced this week by Prime Minister James Marape, before he departs to 55th Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Leaders’ Meeting in Koror, Republic of Palau.

Prime Minister Marape confirmed that the Tambul-Nebilyer MP Daki and member for Usino-Bundi Vincent Kumura were the acting vice-ministers assisting Prime Minister.

Despite the recent allegations and K200m Commerce and Industry-saga, Prime Minister Marape laid his confidence upon Daki to take control of the office and National Executive Council (NEC) matters on his absence.

The newly appointed Minister, Win Bakri Daki has thanked Prime Minister James Marape for appointing him as Minister Assisting the Prime Minister on September 1, 2026.

He says he accepts the role with humility and a strong sense of duty, calling it both an honour and a responsibility and pledged to work harder, listen to the people, and remain focused on delivering meaningful results for Papua New Guinea.

He looks forward to collaborating closely with the Prime Minister, fellow leaders and citizens to build a stronger nation.
Daki assured the country he will serve with humility, loyalty and commitment throughout his tenure.
