THREE CRISES IDENTIFIED BEHIND SUPPLEMENTARY BUDGET: OPPOSITION

THE Opposition says three major pressures have compelled the Marape-Rosso Government to deliver the Supplementary Budget.
They are the impact of El Niño, rising fuel costs linked to the international situation and delays in preparations for the 2027 National General Election.
The Opposition welcomed the Government’s decision to deliver the Supplementary Budget, describing it as a necessary response to the national circumstances.
It says El Niño has created a national crisis, with drought, frost and failing food gardens affecting families across the Highlands and islands.
The Opposition says the Government also needs to respond to external fuel-price pressures resulting from the war in Iran.
