ICTSI INVESTS PGK 8.1 MILLION TO EXPAND CAPACITY IN LAE

SOUTH Pacific International Container Terminal (SPICT), ICTSI South Pacific’s operation in Lae, Morobe
Province, continues to invest in new equipment to further boost capacity and efficiency in response to the
increase in vessel calls this year.

The investment supports operations at the Lae Tidal Basin’s (LTB) overflow berth, Lae Main Wharf (LMW), which was activated to accommodate higher volumes of each vessel traffic and cargo.

The new equipment includes a reach stacker, two empty container handlers, along with five terminal trucks
and trailers, complementing the mobile harbor crane at the Lae Main Wharf.

“These investments strengthen our ability to respond to growing demand while maintaining safe, efficient and
reliable operations,” said Robert Maxwell, ICTSI South Pacific chief executive officer.

“By adding capacity and improving how we handle cargo, we can better serve our customers as trade activity continues to grow.”

ICTSI South Pacific is also bolstering yard operations at both SPICT and Motukea International Terminal
(MIT) with the addition of rubber-tired gantry cranes in the near future.

The equipment will help increase storage density and improve truck turnaround times, benefiting the supply chain.
In addition, a gate camera system will soon be installed to record the condition and status of containers
as they enter and exit the terminals.

Together, these investments reflect ICTSI’s commitment to improve the capacity, efficiency and reliability
of its operations and ensuring Papua New Guinea’s port infrastructure is equipped to support growing trade.
