NATIONAL ORCHID AND FLOWER EXHIBITION AT PARLIAMENT PRECINCT

THE National Orchid and Flower show is currently on at the Parliament precinct.

The show was officially open by the NCDC Governor Powes Parkop on Friday.

The orchid exhibition commenced on Saturday 12th showcasing spectacular orchid species as the nation celebrates 51 years of Independence.

The show will exhibit different orchid species from PNG and also from the South East Asia, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore- contributing to this spectacular show.

Participants are drawn in from other parts of PNG specifically the highlands to showcase their indeginous orchid collections.

Governor Parkop commended the National Orchid Society President Justin Tkatchenko who is also the Foreign Affairs Minister and Moresby South MP for his passion and for constantly organizing the orchid show every year for the past years.

Governor Parkop said Minister Tkatchenko had a passion for flowers and was known countrywide as the PNG Gardener before he joined politics, and he still held on to his passion till today.
