COMPLIANCE COMMITTEE ESTABLISHED AHEAD OF 27NGE

THE Papua New Guinea Electoral Commission has established a new Code of Conduct Compliance Committee to address concerns involving political parties, candidates and supporters ahead of the 2027 National General Election.

PNGEC Commissioner Professor Nicole Haley says the committee, known as the 4Cs, is being established for the first time to help resolve election-related concerns before they escalate into violence, litigation or wider security issues.

The committee brings together representatives from the PNG Electoral Commission, the Integrity of Political Parties and Candidates Commission and non-government organisations.

Haley says the 4Cs will coordinate the receipt and assessment of concerns, encourage early compliance, facilitate corrective action, document responses and refer serious matters to the appropriate authorities where necessary.
