RESEARCH MUST DELIVER PRACTICAL RESULTS, SAYS AGRICULTURE SECRETARY

THE Agriculture and Livestock Secretary says Papua New Guinea must focus on turning research and knowledge into practical results for farmers and communities.
Dr Sergei Bang made the remarks while delivering the Agriculture Minister’s address at the opening of the 8th PNG Research, Science and Technology Conference at the University of Goroka.
Dr Bang says the value of research should be measured by the difference it makes in people’s lives.
He says this includes farmers achieving better yields, small businesses producing quality products, young people finding opportunities in agriculture, and families having better food and stronger incomes.
He says research must be practical, accessible and responsive to the needs of producers across the country.
Dr Bang says Papua New Guinea already has significant knowledge and expertise, but the challenge is connecting that knowledge to the people who can use it.
