UOG HOSTS PNG RESEARCH, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY 8th CONFERENCE

GOVERNMENT leaders, researchers, academics, industry representatives and development partners have gathered at the University of Goroka for the opening of the 8th PNG Research, Science and Technology Conference.

The conference is organised by the PNG Science and Technology Council Secretariat and hosted by the University of Goroka.

The conference is being held under the theme, “Refocusing Science, Technology, and Innovation for Inclusive Growth, Prosperity for the Future.”

Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST) Minister Hon. Kinoka Hotune Feo, MP who is out of the country was unable to attend the conference and will be addressing the conference during the week.

However, representating the Agriculture and Livestock Minister Hon. John Boito’s office is the DAL Secretary Dr Sergie Bang.

Addressing guests yesterday was the University of Goroka Vice Chancellor Dr Teng Waninga, Conference Chair Dr Savitha DeBritto, Science and Technology Council Secretariat CEO Dr Kulala Mulung.

Development partners, including representatives from Australia and China, were also present to speak on research, education, innovation and technology cooperation.

The opening ceremony was held at the Humilaveka Student Forum Square today and will end this Friday.
