THE curtain‑raiser matches ahead of the Prime Minister’s XIII clash have delivered mixed results for Papua New Guinea.

The Junior Orchids went down to the Australian Schoolgirls 32–0, while the PNG Junior Kumuls scored a major upset, 18 points to 10 defeating the Junior Kangaroos.

In the women’s PM’s XIII, Australia select side proved too strong, beating PNG Orchids 66–6.

The men’s PM’s XIII match is still underway at Santos National Football Stadium, with Australia holding the early lead at Half time 38 points to Nil.

Crowds have packed the venue with strong supporters from both teams, obviously the local crowds are celebrating PNG’s junior victory and awaiting the senior showdown as the PNG Kumuls are yet to break the Australian defense to score as they return for the next 40 minutes of the match.
