GRADE 10 NATIONAL EXAMS UNDERWAY FOR OVER 84,000 STUDENTS

EIGHTY- four thousand, five hundred and ninety-six Grade 10 students will commence their 2026 National Examination today Monday October 5th, and through to Friday October 9th

The Grade 10s will sit for their Mathematics and Personal Development Papers today, tomorrow Tuesday 6th October will be Social Science and Arts, on Wednesday 7th October Science and Technology/ICT, on Thursday 8th October Business Studies and Agriculture and on Friday they will end with English Exam.

Educationa Secretary Dr Uke Kombra stated that the Department was working closely with provincial governments, police and security personnel to ensure smooth examinations, with contingency plans in place for emergencies.

He warned schools against malpractice, saying students could face non‑certification, teachers termination, and schools suspension for three years. He emphasized that cheating had been eliminated and results now reflected hard work.

He added that strict supervisory guidelines had been issued to invigilators and urged parents and communities to support candidates by providing a quiet environment and ensuring punctuality. Dr. Kombra concluded by extending his best wishes to all students sitting for the exams.

Education Secretary Dr Uke Kombra states that the 84,596 Grade 10s students make up the total number 279,000 students from Grade 8s, and Grade 12s that are sitting for the 2026 National Examination.

He explained that Grade 10 marking in NCD would begin immediately after their first exam.

Meantime, the Grade 12’s will sit for their final exams on the following week commencing on Monday October 12 to Friday October 16th and Grade 8 from October 19–22.

Secretary for Education Dr. Uke Kombra said the final numbers were confirmed through the Online Student Information Booklets System, with 84,596 Grade 10 students, 37,430 Grade 12 students, and 157,500 Grade 8 students nominated.
