FETU SAMOA BAGS PROMOTION AFTER OUTMUSCLING ORCHIDS

Despite showing slight improvement in attack & defence, the Papua New Guinea Orchids could not capitalize their efforts into a win. Fetu Samoa proving to strong, managing to put 24 points and 4 conversions on the board.
In the opening match of the women’s promotion/relegation match at CommBank Stadium in Sydney, after a knock-on from PNG orchids halfback, Ua Ravu. The Samoan side scored the first try with winger Mercedez Taulelei-Siala breaking through the PNG defence 5min into the game.
In the 18th minute debutant, Jasmine Fogavini scored the second try and 3 minutes just before halftime Jetaya Faifua scored the third Samoan try.
The Fetu Samoa’ came back in the second half to put two more tries. However, there was great improvement from the PNG orchids, as captain Elsie Albert scored a double in the 48th and 68th minutes respectively.
In the 55th minute, Orchids five eight, Sera Koroi was sent off for a dangerous tackle, the samoans took advantage of the Orchids 12 women squad to score the final try.
The full time score this afternoon saw Fetu Samoa 34 defeating the PNG Orchids 12. Meanwhile the men’s Pacific Cup finals between the Australian Kangaroos and the Mate Ma’a Tonga will kick of at 3:05pm
