Residents of Daru Island township and nearby communities gathered at Daru’s main sports oval on Friday, January 17, 2025, to witness the launch of the Western Province Integrated Development Plan (2023-2027), alongside the District Development Plans.

Western Governor Taboi Awi Yoto, along with the province’s four district MPs; James Donald (North Fly), Maso Hewabi (Middle Fly), Agena Gamai (Delta Fly), and South Fly MP Sekie Agisa led the event, joined by several ministers, department heads, and other representatives.

Governor Yoto expressed his gratitude to the Provincial Executive Council (PEC), Provincial Administrator Mr. Robert Alphones Kaiyun, District Administrators, DDA board members, and Local Level Government (LLG) managers for their contributions to the district plans.

He emphasized that the new plan builds upon the 2018 plan, focusing on improving education, health, and agribusiness to enhance the lives of the people.

The vision of 2018 to 2022 was simple: the Fly River Provincial Government want its people to be educated, live healthy lives, put food on the table, and have money in their pockets.

He shared his vision to see Western Province connected by road from Daru to Kiunga in the next 50 years.

Governor Yoto called on national and international partners, including the national government, to support the plan and remain committed to its objectives.
