SUPPLY OF PETROLEUM PRODUCTS IN THE NATION’S CAPITAL REPORTEDLY LOW

REPORTS in the Nation’s capital have emerged that Port Moresby may have a fuel crisis at hand. Over the long weekend, numerous service stations reported that they were experiencing a shortage of supply.
Last week, the Independent Consumer and Competition Commission released a warning to the public about illegal sales of fuel products in the country, but as of today, the Price Regulator has yet to release the indicative retail fuel price for this month.
As the conflict in the Middle East continues to affect global fuel supply and markets, the nation’s capital is starting to experience fuel supply shortages.
Reports from general commuters and vehicle owners to this newsroom mention that a number of service stations had turned them away due to limited supply of fuel.
Aside from this there has been no indication from relevant authorities on the matter.
Minister for Petroleum, Jimmy Maladina, last month told Parliament that the ministry is waiting for reports from fuel suppliers like Puma Energy, ExxonMobil and other suppliers in the country to provide report so they can stockpile fuel for the next three months.
