THE Trukai Fun Run T-shirt Auction for Team PNG has recorded a successful outcome, raising more than K400,000 on Saturday, 2 May 2026 at Hilton Hotel in the Nation’s Capital.
Trukai Industries General Manager for Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands Andrew Grace said the result is impressive noting a significant increase from last year’s total of K296,000.
He said beyond fundraising, the auction plays an important role in supporting schools and communities.
The bidding process allows participating primary and secondary schools to receive official Fun Run T-shirts, enabling them to take part in the nationwide event scheduled for June.
Mr Grace highlighted that the initiative creates a win-win situation benefiting both schools and Team PNG.
He said the funds raised go directly towards supporting athletes as they prepare for major international competitions, including the upcoming Glasgow Games, as well as future events such as the Commonwealth and Olympic Games.
He added that the annual Fun Run is a key event that not only promotes community participation but also provides vital financial support for athletes who dedicate significant time and effort to represent the country.
