THE Wabag District Development Authority (WDDA) is committed to ensuring steady progress on the construction of the Enga-Sepik road project despite no funding from the national government this year.
Wabag Open MP Hon.Dr Lino Tom highlighted the construction of the new bailey bridge over Imap River passing through the Maip-Mulitaka LLG of the Pogera-Paiela District before reaching Pasalangus government station of the Maramuni LLG in Wabag District.
“This bridge over Imap River is the second last bridge before Maramuni station. It is being launched now,” MP Lino said.
The former Health Minister mentioned that the abutments for the Kamaup Bridge have also been completed and that the bridge will be launched after the completion of the Imap Bridge.
He revealed that the WDDA has spent a total of K1.5 million to purchase all the culverts for small creeks, which will be installed after the completion of these two
bridges.
“Additionally, culverts will be inserted during road widening and graveling as part of our road upgrade program in June,” MP Lino said.
The second term MP is confident of continuous progress of this vital road link between Enga and East Sepik provinces despite no funding under the National Government’s PIP program this year.
“We will be using our infrastructure grants to continue building this important road link,” MP Lino said.
The initial construction of this pilot tract began in 2018, reaching Pasalangus government station of the Maramuni LLG for the first time since time immemorial in early 2022 with continuous roadworks progressing well into the Sepik plains in Angoram District, East Sepik Province.
