MEDIA DELEGATION VISIT RABBITOHS HP CENTRE AND NRL HQ

WITH preparations for the Papua New Guinea Chiefs inaugural entry into the NRL, the PNG Media will also step up on its game understanding the dynamics of reporting the competition.

Today the PNG Media delegation visited the NRL headquarters in Sydney for a Media workshop to understand the landscape of reporting the games and also understand the different pathway programs designed to prepare future rugby players.

It was an honor and privilege for the senior Media officers, editors and sports reporters to represent their Media organisation’s back in PNG, who will be mostly engaged and involved and accredited to cover the PNG Chiefs NRL games come 2028.

The session also covered the different development pathway programs under the Pacific Sports Partnership that has been funded by the Australian government as part of the 600-million-dollar funding not only in PNG but also in the Pacific.

There was also an opportunity for the media team to visit the NRL Museum, that holds records of the history of Rugby league in Australia.

Prior to visiting the Rugby League Centre at the NRL Headquarters, the team visited the South Sydney Rabbitohs High Performance Centre and attended the Rabbitohs training, also attended a press conference with Sydney Rabbitohs Coach Wayne Bennet and later had an interview with the NRL king try scorer, PNG Kumuls veteran Winger and upcoming PNG Chiefs 002 Alex Johnson.
