PRIME Minister James Marape when presenting the comprehensive seven-year performance report to Parliament, described it as a transparent assessment of government achievements, challenges and ongoing work across all sectors of the country.

The report, covering the period from 2019 to 2025, outlines progress in infrastructure, economic development, law and order, health, education, social services and governance. It also includes assessments of development activities undertaken in the country’s provinces, districts and the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.

Marape told Parliament the report was intended to provide members and the public with a clear picture of what his administration has achieved since taking office, while also identifying areas where targets have not yet been met.

The Prime Minister said the review was guided by the government’s Medium Term Development Plan IV and the country’s long-term Vision 2050 framework, which aims to transform Papua New Guinea into a modern and prosperous economy.

According to the Prime Minister, the report offers an overview of major projects and reforms undertaken during his administration, including infrastructure investments, resource sector negotiations, public service reforms and efforts to improve basic services across the country.

He said transparency was a key objective of the exercise, noting that the government wanted citizens to understand both the achievements and the challenges that remained in delivering services and economic growth.

Prime Minister Marape said the document should serve as a reference point for future discussions on government performance, development priorities and national planning as Papua New Guinea continues its push toward the objectives set out in Vision 2050.
