WEEKLONG SEL KAMBANG FESTIVAL END

THE 5TH Sel Kambang Festival officially ended yesterday after a week of cultural celebrations at Ningerum Station in North Fly District, Western Province.

The festival, held from June 22nd to June 26th, brought together people from the district’s four major tribal groups to showcase their traditional dances, songs, stories and customs.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Festival Chairman Karu Philly thanked all cultural groups, community leaders, volunteers and sponsors for making the event a success.

In officially closing the festival, Mr. Philly acknowledged the organising committee for their dedication over the past two months in preparing the festival.

He thanked district leaders and sponsors for supporting this year’s event and announced that the sixth Sel Kambang Festival will again be held at Ningerum Station next year.

He said culture forms the foundation of the people and must continue to be protected and passed on to future generations.

Following the ceremony, participating cultural groups returned to their villages after receiving cash appreciation awards in recognition of their performances
