ENBPA TO ASSIST RECRUITMENT DRIVE IN REMOTE AREAS

CAPTION: Police recruits passing out from Bomana Police College earlier this year.

WITH police recruitment call-out in the coming month, East New Britain Provincial Administration has givien assurance to assist rural applicant who lack access to the online recruitment.

RPNGC’s Director of Human Resource, Superintendent Paul Unupite, told officials in a recent meeting that the new online system could leave out applicants from remote areas like Baining and Pomio if they are not assisted.

Provincial authorities have now agreed to set up recruitment sites in those remote locations. Superintendent Unupite says the Provincial Government will propose those sites to be included in national advertisements.

Mr Danley Puapena, Deputy Provincial Administrator for LLG and Ward Affairs, said in the past, most recruitment drives were held only in towns. He says that it limited the opportunities for young people in rural communities which this new rural-focused initiative aims to change.

The reform is part of a national target to increase police strength to ten thousand personnel by 2030.

For now, the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary continues visiting all 22 provincial governments to ensure no rural recruit is left behind.

In East New Britain, young men and women from Baining, Pomio, and other remote areas can now apply alongside those in Kokopo and Rabaul.
