PAPUA New Guinea’s very own hip-hop champions, Wan Squad, travelled to Sydney on to compete in the International Dance League (IDL).
The event will take place on Saturday, 20 June 2026, at the Hordern Pavilion in Moore Park.
With sponsorship from Pacific Industries Limited through its Mountain Dew brand, the team was sent off by media and fans at Jacksons International Airport on Sunday (14, June 2026)
Pyan Ng, Wan Squad’s Manager and Creative Director, enthusiastically shared that the IDL represents the ultimate competitive and developmental experience.
“The IDL is like the NRL of dance,” Ng said.
The travelling contingent consists of 16 local dancers, who will be joined by three additional dancers from Australia.
The champions shared that because the IDL is a premier league, they feel nervous. However, dancing is their passion, and they hope to deliver their best performance on the international stage.
Mountain Dew, under Pacific Industries, has been a proud sponsor of the team for over five years. Chief Commercial Officer Chris Humphries, along with company staff, attended the airport to farewell Wan Squad.
Humphries stated that as the team embarks on its journey to Sydney, Mountain Dew and Pacific Industries are proud to stand behind them.
He added that the IDL represents a new chapter in global dance, and it is fitting that Wan Squad is part of this historic movement.
The IDL is the world’s first global professional dance league. Operating like an official sports league, it features six elite, city-based franchises that compete across multiple international events to accumulate points and fight for the IDL World Championship.
