WATER SHUT DOWN CLAIMS IN PORT MORESBY IS FALSE; DUMA

THE State-Owned Enterprises Minister William Duma has dismissed claims by the Opposition of a major water shut down in Port Moresby due to sewerage water contaminating the water supply network.

Minister Duma cleared this misleading information describing it as a move by the Opposition to politicise challenges facing the country.

Duma said, such misleading information defies all logic and is ridiculous.

The sewerage network is separate from the water supply network and cannot cross contaminate.

Minsiter Duma stated that he is surprised that learned members of the opposition do not know the basic fact or are blatantly misleading the people.

He pointed out that the Opposition claims of the city to be without water for 2-3 weeks is misleading and false, however the Minister confirmed a reduction in supply from 180 million litres to 80 million litres, only for a few days.

Minister Duma said, these claims are causing a lot of concern and worry and the Opposition should make a public apology to the people of Port Moresby.

Meantime, Water PNG Limited is carefully managing and undertaking repairs at Rouna 1 and 3.
