MARAPE HAILS K130 MILLION UOG COMPLEX AS LANDMARK EDUCATION INVESTMENT

PRIME Minister James Marape has described the newly opened K130-million University of Goroka Central Administration Building and auditorium as one of the biggest educational and institutional buildings in the country.

The six-storey complex, which includes a 5,000-seat auditorium, was officially opened at the University of Goroka on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Marape described the facility as the most modern education building in the country, saying the Government’s investment in the University is a foundation for rebuilding education in Papua New Guinea.

He said quality education must be supported by quality infrastructure and challenged the country to restore the standard of education that has declined over the years.

Mr Marape described investment in education as planting a seed for the country’s future skilled workforce.

He said the new facility is also a symbol of partnership and progress between the Government and the University.

The Prime Minister commended China Railway Construction Limited for completing the major project.

He said the Government will continue investing in education as part of its broader effort to develop the country’s human resources.
