THE PNG Hunters continue to face unprecedented challenges presented by a growing injury list within the squad, as several key players are currently sidelined.


Hunters senior management team confirmed to media this morning that 11 players are currently down, and that has affected the playing roster for this weekend, as well as for number of weekends to come.


The South Pacific Brewery-sponsored side’s leading try scorer Myles Banam, forwards Koso Bandi, Whallan Tau-Loi, Seal Kalo and flanker Elijah Roltinga are the notable omission.


Hunters management revealed that players hit with injuries are undergoing respective assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation to be back on the paddock.


Players currently down with various injury concerns includes Vane Manumai (High ankle sprain), Graham Rex (Low grade Hamstring strain), Samuel Wak (Fractured forearm), Koso Bandi (Knee issue waiting on scans), Seal Kalo (Dental issue), Elijah Roltinga (Minor knee issue), Douglas David (Minor knee issue), Noah Yangomina (ACL Rehab), Myles Banam (Lower Leg strain), Whallan Tau-Loi (Knee Injury) and Carlos Lung (Minor Ankle sprain).


“Our medical and performance staff are working closely with each player to ensure they receive the highest standard of care and recovery support.”


“While these setbacks are significant, the health and long-term wellbeing of our players remain the club’s highest priority. The club will continue to provide updates on injuries as we progress,” the management stated.


Hunters will host Souths Logan Magpies this Sunday in Port Moresby for the Round 10 of the Queensland Hostplus Cup completion.
